My Season so Far, Pick ups, & More

Brand new to blogging, this is my first post. If anyone is reading this, PLEASE bear with me and I promise to provide some valuable fantasy insight throughout the baseball season. Be patient, I do a lot of homework and once I get going on this thing, I'm confident I'll have plenty of jewels to share.

For once before the mid-point in a fantasy baseball season, I find myself in serious contention for a playoff spot. Not hindered with an absurd amount of players hitting the DL, nor plagued with poor pitching and position players devoid of power. This year, we've got a nice mix of talent that has gotten me to a 5-6 record.

Yes, that's a 5-6 record I'm bragging about. In a league where players like Brandon League (20 saves) and Michael Pineda (Premium young gun) are picked up off of the FA wire in a flash. It's a tough crowd full of savvy managers that takes constant devotion throughout the long season. With that said, I know how important FA pick ups can be. Here's my list of players that are probably available if  your looking for a spot start or a spot fill in this week...

Pick ups- Week 12
Player
Team
Position
Advice
Danny Espinosa
Washington Nationals
2nd Base
Riding a six game hit streak, he's available in most leagues while provide power and speed at second base.
Todd Helton
Colordo Rockies
1st Base
Although he isn't what he used to be, he's still hitting for average and power. Pujols owners might want to buy while they can.
Mark Reynolds
Baltimore Orioles
3rd Base
Average and strikeouts have always been an issue, but if you can look past those, HRs and RBIs should be steady.
JJ Hardy
Baltimore Orioles
SS
Proving to be healthy and hitting for power and AVG.
Vernon Wells
Los Angeles Angels
OF
Many owners spooked by his poor production and groin injury caused him to be dropped in almost all formats. Has homered of late and could turn the corner soon if he can get a streak going. 31 HRS just last year.
Frank Francisco
Toronto Blue Jays
RP
He's closing again and the Blue Jays are .500. Nuff said.
Scott Baker
Minnesota Twins
Pitcher
Twinkies are on fire and so is Baker. Last two outings: 2W, 17 IP, 17K, 1ER

I believe that these players all could be on your team for fantasy weeks to come. Check them out and choose wisely. I've had Scott Baker on my team for some time and I saw him pitch a few nights ago. He's sneaky good so I told my brother to pick him up the other day figuring he'd be free. His opponent picked up somebody, not sure who, but I know he stunk it up, so I said fire back and pick up Baker if he's available. Sure enough, he won strikeouts by 3Ks. Suffice to say, his opponent was ticked.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the games! PS- Another good fill in for Pujols would be Brett Wallace (the same guy drafted by St. Louis in the 1st round a few years ago, ooof!)
